**Madurai, Tamil Nadu – January 14, 2025** – Ahead of the highly anticipated Jallikattu events in Madurai district, Tamil Nadu’s Minister for Commercial Taxes and Registration, P. Moorthy, has guaranteed equal participation opportunities for transgender and women bull owners.

Speaking at an inspection of Jallikattu arrangements in Alanganallur on Monday, Minister Moorthy confirmed that over 12,000 bull owners and 5,000 bull tamers have registered for the events. He emphasized that a strict, merit-based selection process, accessible via an online registration system, will ensure no discrimination. Approximately 1,100 bulls and 900 bull tamers will be permitted at each of the three major events in Avaniapuram, Palamedu, and Alanganallur.

Those not selected for the main events can apply to participate in private Jallikattu events at the Kalaigngar Centenary Jallikattu Arena. The Avaniapuram event, kicking off on Pongal (January 14th), will feature 900 tamers and 1,100 bulls across nine rounds, with a tractor and a car awarded as top prizes for bull owners and tamers respectively. Palamedu and Alanganallur events will follow on January 15th and 16th.
