Mon Jan 13 16:10:29 UTC 2025: ## Tamil Nadu Government Accused of Delaying Pension Scheme Implementation
**Madurai, January 13, 2025** – The Tamil Nadu Revenue Officers Association (TNROA) has criticized the state government’s announcement to form a committee to examine the implementation of a pension scheme for employees, calling it a delaying tactic. The announcement, made by the state’s Finance Minister, follows a 2021 election promise by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.
TNROA president M.P. Murugaiyan and general secretary S. Sankaralingam issued a joint statement expressing disappointment that four years after the DMK’s electoral victory, the scheme remains unimplemented. They cited a campaign promise made by Stalin, who assured employees and teachers of the scheme’s implementation.
The government’s plan to study the recommendations of the T.V. Somanathan Committee, expected to be implemented nationally in April, has been dismissed as an “eye-wash.” The association demands immediate implementation of the Old Pension Scheme as promised.
Furthermore, the TNROA criticized the government’s withholding of earned leave salary, a practice discontinued since the COVID-19 pandemic. Murugaiyan questioned the government’s justification given the Chief Minister’s recent statements about improved state finances. The association urged the Finance Minister to approve the payment of leave salary arrears with retrospective effect from 2020.
