Mon Jan 13 14:20:00 UTC 2025: ## US Raises Reward for Maduro’s Capture to $25 Million

**Washington, D.C. –** The United States Department of State announced a significant increase in the reward offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro Moros. The reward, previously capped at $15 million, has now been raised to $25 million.

Maduro, who has been accused of narco-terrorism and other serious crimes, faces charges in a Southern District of New York federal indictment. The indictment alleges his involvement in a vast drug-trafficking conspiracy, including collaborating with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization. The charges include narco-terrorism, conspiracy to import cocaine, and possession of weapons.

The US has not recognized Maduro’s presidency since 2019, citing his fraudulent election wins, including the most recent in July 2024. The State Department statement highlights Maduro’s role in leading the “Cartel of the Suns,” a Venezuelan drug-trafficking organization composed of high-ranking officials. His alleged activities include negotiating multi-ton cocaine shipments, providing weapons to the FARC, and coordinating with drug traffickers in other countries.

The increased reward reflects the US government’s commitment to bringing Maduro to justice. Individuals with information are urged to contact their nearest US Embassy or Consulate if located outside the US, or the local Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) office if within the US. All identities will remain strictly confidential. The DEA can also be contacted via email at CartelSolesTips@usdoj.gov. Government officials and employees are not eligible for the reward.
