**Chennai, January 13, 2025** – St. Thomas Mount police have arrested two men for allegedly smuggling a large quantity of gutka from Bengaluru to Chennai. Acting on a tip-off, officers intercepted a car on the Inner Ring Road and apprehended Shamsudin (34) of Saidapet and Biru Shaja (26) of Rajasthan. Authorities seized approximately 440 kilograms of gutka, four mobile phones, and the vehicle used in the operation. Both suspects have been remanded to judicial custody. The seizure highlights ongoing efforts to combat illegal gutka trade in the city.
