HYDERABAD, INDIA – The Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana celebrated Bhogi, the harvest festival, with great enthusiasm today. Children and adults alike lit bonfires in the streets in the morning, while women meticulously created vibrant Rangolis (decorative floor patterns). Temples saw a large influx of devotees participating in special pujas. The atmosphere was further enlivened by the influx of people returning to their hometowns for Sankranti celebrations. Traditional Harikatha performances and decorated Basavannas (bull statues) added to the festive spirit, visiting homes across the states.
