Sun Jan 12 13:23:15 UTC 2025: ## Yograj Singh Proud of Son Yuvraj Despite Cancer Battle and Unfulfilled Potential
**Hyderabad, India** – Yuvraj Singh’s father, Yograj Singh, has revealed in a recent podcast interview that he would have been proud of his son even if he had died during India’s 2011 World Cup victory due to cancer. Yuvraj, a crucial member of the winning team, was diagnosed with lung cancer after the tournament.
While acknowledging his son’s pivotal role in India’s triumph and his indelible mark as a finisher for the national cricket team, Yograj expressed disappointment that Yuvraj didn’t reach his full potential. He stated that even at 10% of his potential, Yuvraj was still a great cricketer.
Yograj recounted a conversation with Yuvraj during the 2011 World Cup, where despite Yuvraj coughing up blood, he encouraged his son to play for the country, saying, “Don’t worry, you won’t die. Win this World Cup for the country.”
Yuvraj Singh retired from international cricket in 2019 after battling cancer and struggling to recapture his pre-illness form. His performances in the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 World Cup, however, remain etched in the memories of cricket fans. Despite his unfulfilled potential, Yograj remains intensely proud of his son’s achievements and his dedication to the Indian cricket team.
