Sun Jan 12 13:23:13 UTC 2025: ## Emotional Kambli Relives Glory Days at Wankhede’s 50th Anniversary

**Mumbai, January 12, 2025** – Former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli, recently hospitalized due to health concerns, appeared visibly emotional at the Wankhede Stadium’s 50th-anniversary celebrations on Sunday. The event marked a poignant return for Kambli, who fondly reminisced about his illustrious career, particularly his first Test double century against England at the very same ground.

“I remember scoring my first double hundred here against England, and that was the start of many more centuries in my career,” Kambli shared, his voice filled with nostalgia. The former cricketer, who rose to fame alongside Sachin Tendulkar in the 1990s, used the opportunity to urge aspiring cricketers to dedicate themselves to their craft. “If you want to play for India like me or Sachin, my advice is to keep working hard and never stop,” he advised.

The anniversary celebrations, hosted by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), brought together cricketing legends including Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, and Dilip Vengsarkar. The MCA will commemorate the event with the release of a coffee table book on January 19th and a commemorative postal stamp. Groundsmen and members of the Mumbai team who played the inaugural first-class match at Wankhede in 1974 will also be honored. Kambli’s appearance served as a reassuring sign to fans concerned about his recent health struggles.
