AYODHYA, INDIA – A three-day grand anniversary celebration is underway at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya to commemorate the first anniversary of Ram Lalla’s Pran Pratishtha (consecration ceremony). While the actual Pran Pratishtha took place on January 22, 2024, the anniversary celebrations, timed according to the Panchang (Hindu calendar), commenced on January 11th.
The festivities began yesterday with a Maha Aarti, Abhishek (ritual bath), and Shringar (adorning) of Ram Lalla. Today’s events include the recitation of 40 chapters of the Yajurveda, Agnihotra (fire offerings with mantras), and a six-lakh repetition of the Ram Mantra. Other religious recitations such as Hanuman Chalisa, Purusha Sukta, Aditya Hriday Stotra, and Ram Raksha Stotra are also planned. Additionally, devotional music (rag seva) will be offered to the deity, and celebratory songs will be sung in the temple courtyard. A three-day musical recitation of the Manas (Ramayana) will be held at the visitor’s center.
Spiritual discourses on the life of Lord Rama, delivered by Jagatguru Ramanujacharya Swami Vasudevacharya, will take place at Angad Tila. The evening will feature a cultural program with performances by renowned artists including Malini Awasthi, Kumar Vishwas, Anuradha Paudwal, and Kavita Paudwal. The celebrations will continue for three days.
