**Tiruchi, January 12, 2025** – The National Institute of Technology Tiruchi (NIT-T) celebrated its distinguished alumni on Saturday, awarding 12 individuals for their achievements in various fields. The awards, presented by B.S. Murty, director of IIT-Hyderabad, recognized excellence in academics, research, innovation, corporate leadership, public service, and entrepreneurship.
Nine of the twelve award recipients attended the ceremony. Director of NIT-T, G. Aghila, highlighted the institute’s commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, mentioning plans for a new 20-acre Research and Innovation Hub focusing on AgriTech, FinTech, and other emerging technologies. She encouraged alumni to collaborate on research and support scholarships.
Among the awardees were prominent figures in academia, including professors from the Georgia Institute of Technology and IIT Delhi. The corporate world was represented by leaders from companies like Bharat Serums and Vaccines, Reliance Life Sciences, and Microsoft. A senior advocate from the Supreme Court received the public service award, and several successful entrepreneurs were also honored.
One alumnus announced a new endowment program to support a female student from a disadvantaged background. Mr. Murty emphasized the importance of utilizing alumni expertise to prepare future generations for industry and enhance the global reputation of Indian institutions.
