Sun Jan 12 08:24:00 UTC 2025: ## Trump’s Inauguration Draws Global Attention Amidst Record Fundraising and VIP Ticket Frenzy

**Washington D.C.** – Donald Trump’s upcoming inauguration as the 47th President of the United States on January 20th is generating unprecedented global interest and attracting record-breaking fundraising. The event, which will also see the swearing-in of Vice President-elect JD Vance, has extended invitations to world leaders, breaking with tradition.

External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar will represent India at the ceremony, the Indian government announced. Dr. Jaishankar will also hold meetings with representatives of the incoming administration and other dignitaries.

Unlike previous inaugurations, Trump’s team has personally invited several world leaders, including Chinese President Xi Jinping, despite ongoing geopolitical tensions. While President Xi’s attendance remains uncertain, a representative from China is expected. Other invited leaders reportedly include El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and Argentinean President Javier Milei. The unconventional approach to invitations, even through back channels, has reportedly made it difficult for Trump’s own team to track all recipients.

Trump’s aim, according to advisors, is to create a “global stage” similar to a recent event in Paris where he met numerous world leaders. This ambitious goal presents significant security challenges for the US Secret Service.

The inauguration is also attracting massive financial contributions from industry leaders eager to cultivate relationships with the incoming administration. The Trump-Vance Inaugural Committee has already raised over $170 million, surpassing the $107 million raised during Trump’s first inauguration in 2017 and dwarfing the $62 million raised for President Biden’s 2021 inauguration. Major corporations like Boeing, Google, Meta, Microsoft, Chevron, Amazon, and Uber have all made significant donations, along with individual contributions of $1 million each from Apple CEO Tim Cook and OpenAI’s Sam Altman.

However, the high demand has led to a shortage of VIP tickets. The New York Times reports that several key donors have been informed they won’t receive the VIP access initially promised due to limited space, prompting a scramble for publicly available tickets. These publicly available tickets, however, lack the exclusive access that major donors typically receive, such as access to events like a candlelight dinner with the Trumps. The high demand underscores the significant lobbying opportunities associated with presidential inaugurations.
