**Cape Town, South Africa** – Dinesh Karthik, a former Indian international cricketer, has become the first Indian player to compete in the South Africa T20 League. Karthik, currently the batting coach and mentor for IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), made his debut for the Paarl Royals against the Sunrisers Eastern Cape on Saturday.
Despite retiring from international, IPL, and domestic cricket last year, Karthik expressed his enthusiasm for the tournament, stating, “I genuinely believe this is the best competition after the IPL.” In his debut match, he participated in a key run-out of Tom Abell. The Sunrisers Eastern Cape, batting first, posted a challenging total of 193, largely thanks to captain Aiden Markram’s 82 runs.
