**New Delhi, January 12, 2025** – The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has submitted a 10-point agenda to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman ahead of the Union Budget 2025-26. The recommendations focus on easing the business environment in India by reducing compliance burdens and improving transparency.
Key proposals include consolidating all regulatory approvals onto a National Single Window System, expediting dispute resolution through improved court capacity and alternative dispute resolution (ADR), and creating a unified framework for environmental compliances. The CII also advocated for an online integrated land authority to streamline land acquisition, suggesting the evolution of the India Industrial Land Bank (IILB) into a national-level land bank with central budget support.
Further recommendations included enacting legislation mandating time-bound service delivery from public authorities, expanding the National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG) to include tribunals, and broadening the Shram Suvidha Portal to encompass all central and state labor laws. Improving the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) programme and minimizing income tax litigation through ADR mechanisms were also highlighted.
CII Director General Chandrajit Banerjee emphasized the need to maintain the momentum on ease of doing business (EoDB) reforms, stating that simplifying regulatory frameworks and reducing compliance burdens are crucial for boosting competitiveness, economic growth, and job creation. The CII believes these measures are vital for India’s continued economic progress.
