Sun Jan 12 05:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Chappell Roan Crowned “Sound of 2025” After Meteoric Rise to Fame

**London, UK** – Missouri-born singer-songwriter Chappell Roan has been named the BBC’s “Sound of 2025,” capping off a whirlwind year of unprecedented success. Following the critical acclaim of her 2023 debut album, *The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess*, 2024 saw Roan’s star explode.

Her album achieved chart success and a global following, earning a Grammy nomination for “Album of the Year.” Roan went on to break records, drawing the largest ever crowd at Lollapalooza, opening for Olivia Rodrigo, selling out UK shows, and appearing on *Saturday Night Live*. She also topped the UK Albums Chart.

Key to her success was significant support from BBC Radio 1 DJs Jack Saunders, Mollie King, and Sian Eleri, culminating in her being named “Future Artist of the Month” in May 2024.

“No one deserves this accolade more than Chappell Roan,” said a spokesperson for the Sound of… poll. “She was the most exciting artist of the last 12 months and is now set to be THE artist of the next 12 months.”

The “Sound of…” list, launched in 2003, has previously featured artists such as Adele, 50 Cent, and HAIM. Roan follows last year’s winner, The Last Dinner Party, and joins a prestigious roster of past nominees including Stormzy, Lady Gaga, and Billie Eilish.
