Sun Jan 12 05:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Chappell Roan Crowned BBC Radio 1’s Sound of 2025

**London, UK** – Rising pop star Chappell Roan has been named the BBC Radio 1 Sound of 2025, a prestigious accolade recognizing the year’s most promising artist. The award, voted on by over 180 music industry figures including Dua Lipa and Elton John, follows a meteoric rise for the 26-year-old singer.

Roan, whose real name is Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, beat out strong competition including Ezra Collective and Barry Can’t Swim to claim the title. Her success is built on a phenomenal year that saw her single “Good Luck, Babe!” reach No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100, a debut album (“The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess”) reach No. 2 on the Billboard 200, a Billboard Music Award for Top New Artist, and six Grammy nominations.

The artist is already booked for major festival appearances in 2024, including Primavera Sound, Reading & Leeds Festival, Øya Festival, Sziget, and Rock In Seine. BBC Radio 1 DJ Jack Saunders hailed Roan as “the most exciting artist of the last 12 months,” predicting a breakout year in 2025.

Roan joins a prestigious list of past winners including Adele, Florence + The Machine, Sam Smith, and Sam Fender. The BBC Radio 1 Sound of 2025 longlist was announced in November and featured 11 rising acts.
