Sun Jan 12 13:49:57 UTC 2025: ## India Women Smash Record 370/5 Against Ireland, Jemimah Rodrigues Hits Maiden ODI Century
**Rajkot, India:** India Women’s cricket team achieved a historic victory in the second ODI against Ireland on Sunday, posting a record-breaking 370/5 – the highest ever total in their 48-year ODI history. The impressive total was built on several strong partnerships and the maiden ODI century by Jemimah Rodrigues.
Rodrigues’ 102 off 91 balls, featuring a celebratory mock guitar strum after reaching the milestone, anchored a crucial 183-run stand with Harleen Deol (89 off 84). The foundation was laid earlier by captain Smriti Mandhana’s quick-fire 73 off 54 balls, and a further contribution from newcomer Patika Rawal who scored 67 runs off 61 balls.
The Indian innings was marked by two significant partnerships: a 156-run opening stand between Mandhana and Rawal, and the aforementioned Rodrigues-Deol partnership. In total, the Indian batters smashed 44 boundaries and three sixes.
Rodrigues expressed her relief at finally achieving her first ODI century, highlighting the importance of staying at the crease until the end. She praised Deol’s support during their partnership, acknowledging the time taken to assess the pitch conditions.
The dominant Indian performance surpasses any previous total in their ODI history, dating back to their first match in 1978 against England. The team’s aggressive batting and strong partnerships overwhelmed the Irish bowling attack, setting a challenging target for the visitors in the second ODI.
