Sun Jan 12 11:24:07 UTC 2025: ## Yemen Gas Station Explosion Kills 15, Injures Dozens
**Cairo, January 12, 2025** – A devastating gas station explosion in Yemen’s Bayda province has claimed the lives of at least 15 people and left 67 others injured, with 40 listed in critical condition. The explosion, which occurred Saturday in the Zaher district, triggered a massive fire, sending plumes of smoke into the air and charring numerous vehicles. Footage of the incident quickly spread online.
The Houthi rebel-run Health Ministry confirmed the casualties and stated that rescue teams are currently searching for those still missing. The cause of the explosion remains unclear. Bayda province is under the control of the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels, who have been engaged in a protracted civil war with Yemen’s internationally recognized government for over a decade.
This conflict, which began in 2014, has resulted in the deaths of more than 150,000 people and created one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises. The war has largely devolved into a stalemate in recent years.
