Sat Jan 11 20:17:41 UTC 2025: ## BCCI to Clear Police Security Dues for IPL Matches

**Mumbai, Feb 6:** The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has assured the Bombay High Court that it will clear outstanding payments owed to Mumbai, Pimpri Chinchwad, and Navi Mumbai police for providing security during IPL matches. In an affidavit filed in response to a public interest litigation, the BCCI stated it will settle the dues within two weeks.

The outstanding amount stems from security provided for IPL matches between 2013 and 2018, initially totaling ₹14.82 crore. Following a Maharashtra government decision to reduce this amount, a petition was filed challenging the reduction. The BCCI’s remaining liability stands at ₹6.03 crore.

The BCCI affidavit clarified that there is no intention to withhold payments and reiterated its commitment to clearing the pending dues within a fortnight. The board also specified that its security responsibility extends only to high-profile matches like qualifiers, eliminators, the IPL final, Women’s Premier League matches, and those under exceptional circumstances, adding that the level of security deployment, and corresponding payment, is determined on a case-by-case basis. The BCCI urged the court to dismiss the petition, arguing that the payment of police security is a matter of policy.

The Bombay High Court adjourned the hearing to February 11.
