**Hubballi, Karnataka, January 11, 2025** – The Karnataka Slum Development Board chairman, Prasad Abbayya, has pledged to prioritize the development of the Nekar Nagar market in Hubballi. Following a site visit on Saturday with Dharwad Deputy Commissioner Divya Prabhu G.R.J., Mr. Abbayya noted the market’s dilapidated condition due to encroachments. He assured that a systematic development plan would be implemented, involving the identification and compensation of affected private properties.
A detailed action plan will be submitted by the Deputy Commissioner’s team, with a request for additional funds from the Chief Minister. Mr. Abbayya also addressed road improvements, stating that the six-laning of the Hubballi-Dharwad Bypass Road is progressing, and plans are underway to widen narrow city roads. He confirmed the release of funds for city circle development but highlighted the need to resolve land ownership issues before compensation can be distributed for some junctions. The state and central governments will be approached for additional funding where necessary.
