**Chennai, January 10, 2025** – Renowned playback singer P. Jayachandran, a prominent figure in the Tamil film industry, passed away on Thursday, January 9th, 2025. Considered a gift from Kerala to Tamil cinema, Jayachandran’s unique voice, often compared to a blend of K.J. Yesudas and S.P. Balasubramanian, carved a distinct path in the industry.
Launched by the legendary music director M.S. Viswanathan in 1972 with the film *Manipayal*, Jayachandran went on to deliver numerous memorable solo and duet numbers.
