**New Delhi, January 24:** Ten thousand distinguished Indians will be honored as special guests at the 76th Republic Day Parade on Kartavya Path, New Delhi, the Centre announced Thursday. This initiative, promoting “Jan Bhagidari” (people’s participation), recognizes individuals from diverse backgrounds who have significantly contributed to national progress.
The guests, hailed as “architects of Swarnim Bharat” (Golden India), represent a broad spectrum of society. This includes top-performing village heads (Sarpanches), selected for their success in implementing government schemes; disaster relief workers, many experiencing their first visit to Delhi; and members of Self Help Groups (SHGs), particularly those focused on health, sanitation, and women’s empowerment.
Rural communities are also prominently represented, with guests from villages witnessing substantial development through government initiatives. Water conservation champions (“Water Warriors” and Pani Samiti members) will be honored alongside para-Olympic athletes, international sports winners, and participants in events like the Chess Olympiad and Snooker World Championship.
Furthermore, the list encompasses farmers and tribal beneficiaries contributing to agriculture and environmental conservation through schemes like PM Kisan and PMFBY, and Van Dhan Vikas Yojna. Participants in renewable energy initiatives like PM Surya Ghar Yojna and PM KUSUM will also attend. The event will also acknowledge handloom and handicraft artisans, innovators, entrepreneurs, PM-YASHASVI Scheme participants, ASHA workers, MyBharat volunteers, and individuals from the North Eastern states who have significantly contributed to community service and development.
The special guests will not only witness the Republic Day Parade but also visit the National War Memorial and PM Sangrahalay, and will have the opportunity to interact with government ministers.
