Thu Jan 09 19:37:31 UTC 2025: ## Delhi High Court Questions Maintainability of Plea Against AAP’s Women’s Stipend Promise
**New Delhi, January 10, 2025** – The Delhi High Court on Thursday questioned the maintainability of a plea challenging the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) election promise to provide a ₹2,100 monthly stipend to women in Delhi under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana.
Justice Jyoti Singh suggested the petitioner, Vijay Kumar, withdraw the plea and file a public interest litigation (PIL) instead. Kumar alleges the promise is a deceptive attempt to lure voters, citing the Delhi government’s previous denial of such a scheme. His lawyer, Advocate Shiv Shankar Parashar, stated that a complaint filed with the Election Commission of India (ECI) on January 3rd regarding the “false promise” has yielded no action, prompting the court approach. The plea also sought to halt the registration process for the scheme. The court adjourned the hearing until January 10th.
