TIRUPPUR, Tamil Nadu – BJP State President K. Annamalai led a protest on Thursday demanding a CBI investigation into the November 28 triple murder of an elderly couple and their son in Semmalaigoundenpalayam village. Mr. Annamalai initiated a signature campaign, aiming to collect 50,000 signatures to support a petition to the Governor. He argued that the state police investigation is stalled due to manpower shortages and political interference, citing the CBI’s higher conviction rate (65% vs. 26% for state police). The withdrawal of general consent for central agencies to operate in the state further necessitates the Chief Minister’s intervention to allow a CBI probe, he added. Mr. Annamalai also defended his previous self-flagellation, linking it to systemic failures in policing. The BJP vows to pursue the matter until justice is served.
