**COLUMBIA, SC** – Despite not holding the No. 1 ranking in the AP poll, the South Carolina Gamecocks women’s basketball team has returned to the top spot in the NCAA’s NET rankings, a key metric used by the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee. Following two weeks at No. 2, the Gamecocks surged back to the top spot on Monday, surpassing SEC rival Texas.

The team’s climb is attributed to a strong start to SEC play, with decisive victories over Missouri and Mississippi State. Their 14-1 record, coupled with one of the toughest schedules in the nation, gives them a compelling claim to the top ranking. While undefeated teams like UCLA, LSU, and Maryland exist, none boast a comparable strength of schedule.
