**CHENNAI, INDIA – January 9, 2025** – The third edition of the South African T20 League (SA20) begins today, featuring a star-studded lineup of international cricketers. The month-long tournament, running from January 9th to February 8th, will see six teams – all with links to Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises – vying for the championship title.
This year’s tournament marks a historic moment, with Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik becoming the first from his country to participate, playing for the Paarl Royals. Defending champions, Sunrisers Eastern Cape, led by Aiden Markram, will face MI Cape Town in the opening match in Gqeberha.
Matches will be played across six venues throughout South Africa, each team enjoying home-ground advantage. The tournament will follow a double round-robin format in the group stage, with the top four teams progressing to the playoffs culminating in the final on February 8th.
