**New Delhi, January 9, 2025** – Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal today accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of deceiving Delhi’s Jaat community by failing to include them in the central government’s Other Backward Classes (OBC) list, despite repeated promises.
Kejriwal held a press conference alleging that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah had made four assurances over the past decade to add the Jaat community to the central OBC list, yet have failed to deliver. He highlighted the discrepancy that Rajasthan’s Jaat community enjoys central OBC benefits, including reservation in Delhi University, while Delhi’s Jaat community does not. This, he argued, prevents Delhi’s Jaat students from accessing reservation in central government universities, bodies like the Delhi Police, and the DDA.
Kejriwal stated he wrote to the Prime Minister on Wednesday demanding the fulfillment of these promises. He pledged to fight for the Jaat community’s inclusion in the central OBC list if the central government fails to act. He further extended this demand to five other castes included in Delhi’s OBC list but excluded from the central list.
