**VISAKHAPATNAM, Andhra Pradesh (January 9, 2025)** – The Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) in Visakhapatnam is hosting the 9th Boccia National Championship, bringing together over 100 para-athletes from 21 states across India. The championship, which runs until January 16th, celebrates the athletic achievements of individuals with disabilities.
Lt. General N.S. Raja Subramanyam, Vice Chief of the Indian Army Staff, will officially inaugurate the event on January 10th. Organizers highlighted the importance of Boccia in promoting inclusivity and providing a platform for athletes with severe physical disabilities.
The championship features Sub-Junior, Junior, and Senior categories for both boys and girls aged 14 and above. Following equipment checks and training sessions, matches will commence.
AMTZ’s commitment to empowering individuals with disabilities is further underscored by its plans to host a Wheelchair Basketball Championship in February. This initiative reflects AMTZ’s dedication to creating equal opportunities and fostering inclusivity.
