Thu Jan 09 02:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Businessman Arrested in Kochi for Sexual Harassment, to Appear in Court Today

**Kochi, Kerala:** Bobby Chemmannur, a businessman arrested for allegedly sexually harassing actress Honey Rose, will be produced before a magistrate court today. Police will also file a custody request. Chemmannur’s bail application will also be considered by the court, represented by advocate B. Raman Pillai of Raman Pillai Associates.

Chemmannur, arrested yesterday morning at his estate in Meppadi, Wayanad, denies any wrongdoing, claiming his remarks were misinterpreted and based on mythological references. He also stated that any offensive language was a misunderstanding. His mobile phone, seized by police, will also be presented to the court.

The arrest followed a complaint filed by Honey Rose on Tuesday. Chemmannur was taken into custody by a joint team of Ernakulam Central Police and Wayanad SP’s special squad. He was subsequently interrogated and medically examined before being formally arrested.

The case against Chemmannur was registered under Section 75 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for insulting the modesty of a woman and Section 67 of the IT Act for obscene remarks through electronic media. Honey Rose also spoke to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan about the complaint. The swift police action was aimed at preventing Chemmannur from seeking pre-arrest bail or going into hiding.

Honey Rose gave a two-hour confidential statement to the Ernakulam First Class Judicial Magistrate. Depending on the contents of this statement, further charges might be added against Chemmannur. She initially brought the matter to light last Sunday, without revealing the accused’s identity, alleging harassment through ambiguous remarks. The investigation is led by Central ACP K. Jayakumar and SHO Aneesh Joy.
