Thu Jan 09 09:51:51 UTC 2025: ## Kejriwal Denies Contesting Second Seat in Delhi Assembly Elections

**New Delhi, January 9, 2025** – Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal has dismissed BJP claims that he plans to contest the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections from a second seat, stating he will only contest from his current constituency, New Delhi. His clarification follows allegations from BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya who claimed Kejriwal was considering a second seat due to fears of losing in New Delhi. These allegations arose amidst AAP accusations that the BJP is systematically removing thousands of AAP supporters’ names from the electoral rolls in multiple constituencies.

Kejriwal, a three-time MLA from New Delhi, faces a tough three-way contest against Parvesh Verma (BJP), son of former Delhi Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma, and Sandeep Dikshit (Congress), son of former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.

The AAP leader emphasized that the Delhi elections represent a direct contest between AAP and BJP, not an INDIA bloc affair, despite receiving support from several INDIA bloc members, including the Samajwadi Party, Trinamool Congress, and Shiv Sena (UBT). The Congress, the leading party in the INDIA bloc, is contesting the elections independently.

A meeting between AAP leaders and Election Commission officials is scheduled for later today to address concerns about voter list deletions. The Delhi Assembly elections are scheduled for February 5th, 2025, with results announced on February 8th.
