Thu Jan 09 17:28:07 UTC 2025: ## BJP MLC C.T. Ravi Records Statement with CID Over Abuse Allegation

**Bengaluru, January 9, 2025** – C.T. Ravi, a BJP Member of the Legislative Council (MLC), appeared before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Thursday to provide a statement regarding allegations that he hurled abuse at Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar.

Following his statement, Mr. Ravi claimed he was himself attacked by approximately 25-30 individuals near the Suvarna Soudha in Belagavi after the alleged incident. He stated that the attacks occurred in two separate incidents – one around 3 p.m. and another around 4:15 p.m. – and implicated the Minister’s Personal Assistant and another MLC as being among the attackers. Mr. Ravi indicated that he will identify other assailants using media reports and CCTV footage.

Mr. Ravi was briefly arrested on December 19th but released the following day. The CID investigation is ongoing.
