Thu Jan 09 14:19:34 UTC 2025: ## Bobby Chemmannur Remanded in Sexual Assault Case

KOCHI, INDIA – Businessman Bobby Chemmannur has been remanded in custody for 14 days following the denial of his bail application in a sexual assault case filed by actress Honey Rose. The Ernakulam Judicial First Class Magistrate Court made the ruling after a heated hearing. Chemmannur, who was arrested in Wayanad and brought to Kochi on Tuesday, reportedly experienced health issues following the verdict and was taken to a hospital for medical examination.

Chemmannur’s lawyer argued that the allegations were false and that the complainant was seeking publicity. The prosecution, however, contended that the charges were serious and presented digital evidence, including a video, to support their case. The Magistrate, however, declined to view the video at this stage. The case is based on sections 75 (1) and (4) of the Indian Penal Code, relating to sexual assault, and sections 6 and 7 of the IT Act.

Chemmannur maintained his innocence throughout the proceedings, stating that he had committed no wrong and had not assaulted anyone. His lawyer also argued that a video presented as evidence actually showed a friendly interaction following a reference to Kunti Devi.

The ruling follows the recording of Honey Rose’s secret statement to the police. The case is expected to continue.
