**New Delhi** – Millions of salaried employees in India will soon benefit from the much-anticipated launch of EPFO 3.0 and the introduction of ATM cards for accessing their Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) balances. Union Minister for Labour and Employment, Mansukh Mandaviya, announced that the EPFO mobile app and ATM card facility are slated for rollout by May-June this year.
The minister explained that the launch is contingent on the completion of the ongoing upgrade of the EPFO’s IT infrastructure under EPFO 2.0, expected to conclude by the end of January. EPFO 3.0 will offer banking services directly through the app, centralize the system, and streamline claim settlement processes.
While details are still being finalized, the government is working with the Reserve Bank of India and the Ministry of Finance to enable debit card access. ATM withdrawals will be subject to a limit, eliminating the need for online permission requests for smaller withdrawals, making accessing funds far more convenient. This initiative aims to significantly ease the process of accessing EPF funds for subscribers.
