Mon Jan 06 17:22:24 UTC 2025: ## North Indian Speaker Booked for Provocative Speech in Udupi

**Mangaluru, January 6, 2025** – Meenakshi Sehrawat, a speaker from North India, has been booked by Udupi police for delivering a provocative speech at a program in Udupi on Saturday. The speech, delivered at the “Vishwarpanam” program in Poornaprajnya auditorium, allegedly contained inflammatory remarks about history and prominent figures.

According to a complaint filed by Police Sub Inspector B.E. Punith Kumar, Sehrawat’s speech, on the topic “Bangla Patha,” included claims that a lack of historical knowledge leaves girls vulnerable to exploitation and conversion. She further asserted that Mahatma Gandhi could not be considered the “Father of the Nation” due to his alleged support for Mohammed Ali Jinnah and the creation of Pakistan. Sehrawat also reportedly claimed that Gandhi banned the “Shiva Bhavani” poem and “Vande Mataram” to appease a minority population and weaken Hindus through the principle of Ahimsa.

The complaint alleges that Sehrawat’s speech incited communal disharmony and unrest. Govindaraju, the Administrative Manager of Admaru Mutt, who organized the event, has also been named as an accused. Charges against both individuals are under Sections 353 (2) and 3 (5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
