**Mumbai, January 7, 2025** – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Maharashtra is launching a second phase of its membership drive on January 10th, aiming to recruit 1.5 crore new primary members. This follows a successful first phase, according to Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule.
The initiative, dubbed “Sangathan Parv,” will see party workers, from booth presidents to state-level leaders, visiting households across the state’s one lakh polling booths. The January 10th campaign will involve a significant mobilization of party officials, including MLAs, MPs, and ministers. Mr. Bawankule stated that each worker aims to enroll at least 250 primary members.
The party’s goal is not just to increase membership numbers, but also to establish an active membership base. This will involve the creation of five-member committees at each booth, with active members filling key positions. While anyone can become a primary member, only active members can hold party positions or contest elections.
The success of the membership drive will be celebrated at the Maharashtra BJP State executive meeting in Shirdi on January 12th, which coincides with Swami Vivekananda’s birthday. At least 15,000 party functionaries are expected to attend, following the completion of the primary membership target.
