Mon Jan 06 21:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Pune University Launches First Space Payload, Led by Andhra Pradesh Professor

**Vijayawada, January 7, 2025** – The Space Technology Research Group (STeRG) at MIT World Peace University (MIT-WPU) in Pune has achieved a significant milestone in India’s space exploration. The group successfully launched its first-ever space payload, STeRG-P1.0, aboard the PSLV-C60 rocket. This accomplishment is particularly noteworthy as the payload’s avionics system was entirely indigenously developed by students, under the guidance of Professor Murthy Chavali Yadav, a native of Andhra Pradesh and Dean of Research and Development at MIT-WPU.

The STeRG-P1.0 payload, which tested commercially-off-the-shelf (COTS)-based avionics, represents a triumph of innovation and dedication by the students of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at MIT-WPU. Professor Yadav lauded the team’s ingenuity, highlighting the potential of young Indian talent in advancing space technology. The successful launch marks a significant achievement for the university and contributes to India’s growing ambitions in space exploration.
