**NEW DELHI** – The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the dates for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2025, a crucial exam for admission to undergraduate engineering and architecture programs across India. The exam will be held in two sessions: January 22-31, 2025, and April 1-8, 2025. This two-session format provides students with multiple opportunities to improve their scores and reduces the risk of losing an academic year.
The JEE Main comprises two papers: Paper 1 for BE/B.Tech admissions, and Paper 2 for B.Arch and B.Planning courses. Paper 1 will be a computer-based test (CBT), while Paper 2A (B.Arch) includes a CBT section and an offline drawing test, and Paper 2B (B.Planning) is entirely CBT-based. The exam will be offered in 13 languages, promoting inclusivity under the National Education Policy (NEP).
Both papers will feature a mix of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and numerical answer type questions. Paper 1 covers Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. Negative marking will apply to both sections. The exam duration is three hours for Paper 1 and individual Paper 2 components, and 3 hours and 30 minutes for combined Paper 2A and 2B. Persons with disabilities (PwD) will receive extended time.
The NTA emphasizes that the best score from either session will be used to determine the final rank. Detailed syllabus information is available on the official JEE Main website: jeemain.nta.nic.in. Results will be published after each session. The agency advises students to utilize the two-session format to their advantage and prepare thoroughly. The schedule is designed to avoid conflicts with state and union territory board examinations.
