Mon Jan 06 16:19:59 IST 2025: ## Jammu Police Crack Down on Drug Trade, Seize Heroin Worth Hundreds of Crores

**Jammu, January 6, 2025** – Jammu police announced a major victory in their fight against drug trafficking, reporting the arrest of 300 individuals and the seizure of over 43 kg of heroin valued at several hundred crores in 2024. The operation, part of a larger anti-drug drive, also resulted in the attachment of 11 properties belonging to drug smugglers, totaling ₹4.69 crore.

According to a police spokesperson, 200 cases were registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, with 153 specifically targeting heroin smuggling. Eighty-three vehicles were seized, and 19 hardcore drug peddlers were booked under the stringent Prevention of Illicit Traffic in NDPS Act. The police also demolished four drug hotspots and continue efforts to dismantle others.

The spokesperson highlighted the significant recovery of 43.854 kg of heroin, emphasizing the scale of the narcotics trade in the region. The confiscation of assets, including the 11 immovable properties and 3 movable properties (vehicles), aims to disrupt the financial networks supporting drug syndicates.

To aid in combating addiction, the largest Police Drug De-addiction, Rehabilitation and Mental Health Care Centre was established in Jammu city in March 2024. The police attributed their success to extensive operations throughout the year, showcasing a determined effort to curb narco-crimes in the district.
