Sat Jan 04 18:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Barcelona Denied Registration of Olmo and Víctor, Faces Legal Battle

**Barcelona, Spain** – FC Barcelona’s attempts to register Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor for the second half of the La Liga season have been decisively rejected by both La Liga and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF). The club’s efforts, which included legal action and financial maneuvers, ultimately failed to meet the league’s financial fair play regulations.

Despite meeting La Liga’s economic control requirements on January 3rd, 2025, and submitting all necessary documentation, the RFEF cited regulations preventing the re-registration of players whose licenses were previously cancelled within the same season. This ruling, based on articles 130.2 and 141.5 of the RFEF General Regulations, leaves both players without a Barcelona contract for the remainder of the season.

President Joan Laporta, who remained optimistic until the final decision, had pursued several avenues to register the players, including a court appeal, the sale of VIP boxes, and requests for license exemptions from the RFEF. While these actions improved the club’s financial standing, they were insufficient to satisfy the requirements for Olmo and Víctor’s registration.

Olmo, whose contract stipulated a clause covering this scenario, now finds himself without a club and may explore temporary moves elsewhere before potentially returning. Pau Víctor, under contract until 2029, is likely to be released by Barcelona to renegotiate his terms.

FC Barcelona has confirmed its intention to explore further legal options, potentially appealing to the Higher Council for Sports (CSD) and pursuing further legal action to secure the players’ registration. The outcome remains uncertain, leaving the future of both players hanging in the balance.
