Sun Jan 05 16:55:56 UTC 2025: ## Modi and Kejriwal Clash in Heated Delhi Election Campaign

**New Delhi, January 5, 2025** – The Delhi Assembly elections are heating up, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal engaging in a fierce war of words. Addressing a massive BJP rally, Modi accused the AAP government of mismanagement and corruption, coining the slogan “AAP-DA nahi sahenge, badal ke rahenge” (“We will not tolerate disaster, we will bring change”). He highlighted alleged irregularities in the renovation of Kejriwal’s official residence, referring to it as a “sheesh mahal” (glass palace), and criticized the AAP’s handling of Delhi’s infrastructure and public services. Modi promised a brighter future for Delhi under BJP rule, emphasizing the city’s crucial role in India’s development plans.

Kejriwal responded later in the day, accusing Modi of spending most of his speech hurling abuses instead of addressing key issues. He countered Modi’s criticisms, stating that the AAP government continues to collaborate with the central government on various development projects despite challenges posed by Delhi’s semi-state status. He also blamed the central government for delaying the notification of Delhi’s 2041 Master Plan, hindering development. Kejriwal promised to waive “inflated” water bills if the AAP retains power.

The BJP rally, held at Japanese Park in Rohini, drew a large crowd of supporters, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with BJP flags and slogans. A replica of the alleged “Sheesh Mahal” served as a focal point, attracting many visitors. Meanwhile, Congress announced Alka Lamba as its candidate for the Kalkaji constituency. The upcoming election promises to be a closely contested battle between the BJP and AAP.
