Sun Jan 05 17:26:52 UTC 2025: **BJP Leader Sparks Outrage with Remarks on Delhi CM Atishi and Priyanka Gandhi**

NEW DELHI (January 5, 2025) – BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri is facing intense criticism after making controversial comments about Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Bidhuri, contesting the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections from Kalkaji, questioned Atishi’s surname change at a rally in Rohini on Sunday, reviving a controversy from the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

This incident follows Bidhuri’s earlier apology for a sexist remark comparing the potential smoothness of roads in South Delhi to Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s cheeks. He later claimed his comment was made in response to a similar, albeit disputed, remark made years ago by former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav. Despite offering an apology, Bidhuri’s actions have drawn sharp condemnation.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), accused Bidhuri and the BJP of crossing all limits of shamelessness and vowed that Delhi women would retaliate against such insults. The AAP issued a statement calling Bidhuri’s remarks abusive and reflective of the BJP’s anti-women stance. They questioned what treatment ordinary women could expect should Bidhuri win the election.

The controversy adds fuel to the already heated Delhi Assembly election campaign, scheduled for February. The AAP swept the last election, winning 62 out of 70 seats, while the BJP secured eight. The Congress, which held power for 15 years, failed to win a single seat in the previous two elections. The latest remarks from Bidhuri are likely to further intensify the political battle in the lead-up to the polls.
