Sat Jan 04 13:04:01 UTC 2025: ## Hyderabad Passport Office Announces Significant Reduction in Appointment Wait Times

**Hyderabad, January 4, 2025** – The Regional Passport Office (RPO) in Hyderabad has announced a significant reduction in wait times for passport applications, boasting improved service delivery throughout 2024. The average wait time for regular passport appointments at Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs) has plummeted from 22 days in 2023 to just six to eight working days. Tatkal appointments are now available within one to five working days. Even at Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs), appointments are now secured within a week.

The RPO, operating five PSKs and 14 POPSKs, processed approximately 9.02 lakh applications in 2024, averaging 4,200 daily. This includes passport issuances, Police Clearance Certificates (PCCs), and other services. While Hyderabad PSKs offer appointments within six to eight days, Nizamabad PSK provides next-day appointments. POPSKs across Telangana also offer appointments within a week, with Tatkal passports delivered within one to three working days and regular passports within five to seven (excluding police verification).

This efficiency has significantly reduced the presence of touts and brokers. The RPO aims to further decrease appointment cycles to five working days across all centers. To meet increasing demand, appointment availability has been increased at POPSKs in Warangal, Khammam, Vikarabad, Medchal, Mahabubnagar, and Nalgonda, with Warangal’s POPSK processing up to 130 applications daily. The RPO also utilized Lok Adalats to clear pending cases and collaborated with the Telangana State Haj Committee. A mobile van in Kamareddy ensured service continuity despite operational challenges.
