Fri Jan 03 18:07:34 UTC 2025: ## Kerala University Faces Allegations of Irregularities in K-REAP Project
**Kannur, Kerala – January 4, 2025** – The Kerala Students’ Union (KSU) has called for an investigation into alleged irregularities within Kannur University’s K-REAP project, a state-government initiative centralizing college administration. KSU vice president P. Muhammed Shammas has written to the Governor and Chancellor, Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, expressing serious concerns about the project’s management by Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited (MKCL).
Shammas’s letter highlights several key issues. The first involves a suspected data breach; the first-semester results of a four-year degree program were reportedly leaked before their official release, raising questions about the security of MKCL’s software, which handles all student data.
Furthermore, Shammas alleges the unauthorized launch of a BCom (Computer Application) course at WMO Imam Gazzali Arts and Science College, an affiliated institution. He claims 31 students were allegedly falsely admitted, registered for exams, and received results through the K-REAP system despite the course lacking proper approval. This, he alleges, involved collusion with university authorities.
The KSU vice president also criticizes the university’s response to these allegations, accusing the Vice-Chancellor and Registrar of attempting to cover up the irregularities. The letter demands a thorough investigation into all aspects of the K-REAP project’s implementation at Kannur University.
