Fri Jan 03 16:48:18 UTC 2025: ## Madurai Court Fines Petitioner ₹50,000 for Repeated Frivolous Encroachment Case
**Madurai, January 3, 2025** – The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has levied a ₹50,000 fine on a petitioner for repeatedly filing lawsuits regarding land encroachment, even after a previous similar petition was dismissed.
The petitioner, G. Abel Moorthy, president of the Abdul Kalam Science Farm People Security Association, sought the court’s intervention to remove encroachments from government land. However, the court, comprising Justices M. S. Ramesh and A. D. Maria Clete, noted that the land in question had already been privately allotted.
The judges stated they were unable to comprehend the petitioner’s repeated attempts to address the same issue through multiple petitions. They deemed the petition to be filed with an ulterior motive and lacking in public interest. Consequently, the court dismissed the petition and imposed the significant fine as a consequence of the frivolous litigation.
