**Mumbai, January 4, 2025** – Four young men died and three others were injured in a collision on the Mumbai-Goa highway early Friday morning. A speeding towing van, driven by a man later arrested for drunk driving, rear-ended a stationary SUV.

The accident occurred near Mahad in Raigad district. The SUV, carrying eight occupants, had stopped due to a fuel shortage. The impact of the collision killed four passengers instantly: Prasad Natekar, Sameer Minde, Suryakant More, and Sahil Shelar, all residents of Mahad and aged between 25 and 30. Three others sustained injuries and were hospitalized; one remains in critical condition.

Police have registered a case against the towing van driver under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Motor Vehicles Act for causing death by negligence. Blood samples have been collected to confirm alcohol levels. The investigation is ongoing.
