**Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh –** Goli Shyamala Garu, a 52-year-old resident of Samarlkota village, has achieved a remarkable feat, swimming 150 kilometers from Visakhapatnam to Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh over six grueling days. Her extraordinary journey, completed on January 4th, has garnered widespread praise across India and internationally.

Garu’s swim, described as incredibly challenging, was closely monitored by a support team of over a dozen experts, including doctors and scuba divers. The arduous undertaking saw her battling various sea conditions over the six-day period.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu lauded Garu’s achievement on X (formerly Twitter), praising her “extraordinary courage and determination” and highlighting her swim as a testament to “Nari Shakthi” (women’s power) and the human spirit. He also noted her accomplishment as an inspiration for marine conservation.

This is not Garu’s first long-distance swim; she previously conquered the Palk Strait in 2021. Her latest achievement has solidified her place as a symbol of resilience and inspiration.
