**New Delhi, January 4, 2025** – Dense fog severely impacted flight operations at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) early Saturday morning, causing temporary halts to departures and arrivals. IndiGo announced a temporary suspension of operations at 1:05 a.m. via X (formerly Twitter), citing reduced visibility. Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) confirmed the disruptions at 12:05 a.m. on the same platform, advising passengers to contact their airlines for updates.
Air India also reported that poor visibility due to fog was affecting flights in Delhi and other parts of northern India. The airline, along with IndiGo, warned of potential further delays even after operations resume due to airside congestion.
Friday saw over 400 flights delayed at IGIA due to inclement weather, with flight tracking website flightradar24 reporting 303 flights delayed by more than 45 minutes between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. This included 73 arriving and 230 departing flights. A photograph accompanying the report showed a thick layer of fog blanketing Kartavya Path in New Delhi on Friday morning.
