**Aravalli, Gujarat –** A 10-year-old girl was kidnapped and raped after meeting a 16-year-old boy on Instagram, police reported. The Class 5 student went missing from her home in Dhansura village on Tuesday, prompting her parents to file a kidnapping complaint.
Acting swiftly, police utilized human intelligence and technical resources to locate both minors on Wednesday. Investigations revealed the girl had been using her mother’s smartphone to access Instagram, where she befriended the 16-year-old. Frequent chats and phone calls led to the boy kidnapping the girl, taking her to his home, and raping her, according to police.
The investigation further uncovered that the victim and her younger sister had created seven Instagram accounts, two of which were active, using their parents’ phones. The 16-year-old boy has been apprehended and sent to an observation home in Mehsana, where he will face charges under the Juvenile Justice Act. The case highlights the dangers of unsupervised social media use among minors.
