**New Orleans, LA** – President Joe Biden addressed the nation Thursday following a deadly terrorist attack in New Orleans on New Year’s Eve, confirming that fifteen people, including the attacker, were killed and 35 injured when a vehicle was driven into a crowd. The President stated that the FBI has determined the attacker acted alone.
The attacker, identified as Shamsud Din Jabbar, was found to have an ISIS flag in his vehicle and had posted videos online hours before the attack declaring support for the terrorist organization. Biden emphasized the administration’s commitment to pursuing ISIS and other terrorist groups relentlessly, stating, “We are going to relentlessly pursue ISIS and other terrorist organizations where they are, and they will find no safe harbor here.”
The FBI briefing to the President revealed that Jabbar also planted explosives in ice coolers in the French Quarter shortly before the vehicular attack. Authorities are investigating potential foreign or domestic connections to the incident.
While a Tesla Cybertruck explosion in Las Vegas earlier this week, which killed one and injured seven, initially prompted speculation of a link due to both vehicles being rented from Turo, President Biden stated that the investigation has yet to find any evidence connecting the two events. Investigations into both attacks are ongoing.
