NEW DELHI, January 2, 2025 – The Delhi BJP launched a scathing attack on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday, accusing him of dishonesty and broken promises. Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva demanded an apology from Mr. Kejriwal for allegedly encouraging alcohol consumption, making false assurances about cleaning the Yamuna River, and accepting donations from “anti-national forces.” In a letter to Mr. Kejriwal, Mr. Sachdeva urged him to cease what he termed “dishonest and deceitful political behaviour,” including making false oaths and exploiting the sentiments of Delhi’s citizens.
BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi echoed these criticisms, citing numerous unfulfilled promises relating to power tariffs, clean water, education, healthcare, environmental improvements, and women’s safety.
The AAP responded by accusing the BJP of lacking the courage to question Union Home Minister Amit Shah about the deteriorating law and order situation in Delhi, particularly concerning the high incidence of rape. The party deflected criticism, highlighting the BJP’s focus on attacking Mr. Kejriwal instead of addressing key issues.
