Bharati Kulkarni is the new chief of ICMR-National Institute of Nutrition

**Hyderabad, January 2, 2025** – Dr. Bharati Kulkarni has assumed the directorship of the Indian Council of Medical Research’s National Institute of Nutrition (ICMR-NIN) in Hyderabad. Dr. Kulkarni, a physician-scientist with a distinguished career spanning two decades at the institute, brings extensive experience in maternal and child nutrition research.

Prior to her appointment, Dr. Kulkarni headed the ICMR Division of Reproductive, Child Health and Nutrition in New Delhi for three years. Her impressive credentials include a postgraduate degree in pediatrics from Pune University, a Master’s in Public Health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and a doctoral degree from Queensland University of Technology. She is also the author of over 130 publications in peer-reviewed international journals.

Dr. Kulkarni’s research has focused on multi-centric projects related to maternal and child nutrition. Her appointment marks a significant step for the ICMR-NIN, promising continued advancements in nutritional research and public health initiatives.
