Tue Dec 31 14:54:34 UTC 2024: ## US Launches Strikes in Yemen After Huthi Attacks on Vessels

**Sana’a, Yemen/Tampa, FL –** The US military conducted strikes against Huthi targets in Yemen’s capital, Sana’a, on Tuesday, in response to attacks on American warships and commercial vessels in the Red Sea. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that the strikes, carried out by US Navy ships and aircraft, also targeted Huthi-controlled coastal regions. Seven cruise missiles and several one-way attack UAVs were destroyed over the Red Sea during the operation. CENTCOM reported no US casualties or damage to equipment.

Witnesses in Sana’a reported multiple strikes across the city, including one near the Defense Ministry. Huthi spokesperson Mohammed Abdulsalam denounced the strikes as an act of “American aggression,” a violation of Yemen’s sovereignty, and implicit support for Israel.

This action follows a series of Huthi attacks on maritime targets in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. The rebels have also claimed responsibility for missile attacks on Israel, escalating tensions in the region amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. The Huthis say their attacks are in solidarity with Palestinians. The timing of the US strikes and the Huthi attacks on Israel raise concerns of a broader regional conflict.
